MACROCOSMI – Ordnungen anderer Art

CUBO Centro Unipol Bologna presents MACROCOSMI Ordnungen anderer Art, Organismi fuori centro, a multi-voice project that moves in the international space of Contemporary Art, along an axis of creativity and conjunction that goes from Bologna to Berlin and from Berlin to Bologna, in conjunction with the 39th edition of Arte Fiera and, in September 2015, on the occasion of Berlin Art Week.

The structure of the MACROCOSMI project, whose logo and video logo was conceived by Lemeh 42, includes an artistic and intellectual dialogue between subjects investigating the transitory, the unstable, that is, precisely those "off-center organisms" that are blurred, never pre-established, always in constant transformation as our uncertain contemporary society suggests.

CUBO's Spazio Arte triggers, with a domino effect, the relationship between Art and City, in a dialogue between people and the urban fabric. The sense is to enrich oneself through differences and abolish distances, to establish relationship practices in order to widen the vision and connect needs. The exhibition is accompanied by a video that documents the process through which each artist has arrived at the final result, the work and its sharing and living space. The history of off-center organisms, from the moment of conception through germination to the epiphany of the exhibition, dialogues between Ettore Frani, Gianni Moretti, Stefano Ronci and Ingeborg zu Schleswig-Holstein, first bouncing back to the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna as a partner, adheres to the project by hosting a multimedia installation, by Branka Pavlovic in the courtyard of the Aula Clementina, a workshop and a round table dedicated and shared with the Berlin association nGbK which in turn will host, during Berlin Art Week, four young artists trained within the Academy itself. MACROCOSMI will then rebound into the performance spaces of the Sala Studio of Teatri di Vita, in via del Pratello 90, which will host a series of performances and actions focused on dialogue and interaction between artists and the public as well as a collective exhibition.

Annalù, belongs to that kind of artists for whom the domain of matter, chemistry, physical substances, is an integral part of a wider process of exploration that certainly involves art but also the most impalpable dimensions of the spirit. In the works of the artist there is a sense of metamorphosis, of passage, of evolution as a sort of journey between different states, between different realities, a spirit of research that shares some aspects typical of alchemical science. An artist disciple of metamorphosis intent on penetrating the mysteries of creation, able to assemble incongruous elements such as resins and paper, bark and glass wool, bitumen and sand, cement and roots, to create new realities, suspended worlds where alchemy is lightness.

Inna Artenova, the artist skillfully wraps organic elements of buildings with everyday scenarios of past times, blending them into geometric shapes and ruined scenarios. The silence and gravity of architecture are contrasted by the agility of forms, but always with humour. His collages are pervaded by oneirism, here the artist connects segments of space and time, prepared in advance, to form a new image. Despite obvious rational contrasts of the unreal constellation of pictorial elements, the coherence and narrative sense that tell us a natural perception of the artist is surprising. The images regularly dissolve at the edges, the pictorial motifs seem to reveal a scratched image, the artist's need to free the idea from the material.

Mattia Biagi, who has lived in Los Angeles for many years, mixing traditional Italian culture with his experience of life in the United States, especially in this work, presented last year at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the artist wishes to give us a tangible experience of "belief", the supernatural with its cultural nuances. "We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are"..., could sum up Mattia Biagi's Lucky System project. "Every situation, event, conversation, object, means something different for everyone involved. We give "other" meanings according to our belief systems, and according to how we are involved in the events event". Superstition is for the artist a term with a negative meaning that defines a belief system that gravitates in the supernatural. Every anthropological system has this kind of mechanisms: one event leads to the cause of another without any natural process connecting them, every culture has different degrees of favorable or adverse affection with astrology, religion, omens, magic in contradiction with science, the work of Mattia Biagi is an experience in our cultural codes.

Grigori Dor's poetics begins with collages: printed paper, newspapers, photographs, glossy magazines, fragments of images, all surrounded by fragments of the remains of billboards. He plays with the elements of figuration and abstraction, organizing the collages into formations of vibrant collisions imbued with Dadaism and Surrealism. The choice to reuse ready-made images, created for other contexts, raising them to re-organize them by transferring them onto the canvas with a pictorial process, is an attempt to investigate the collective visual memory, creating new contexts and realities.

Veronica Montanino, her art takes shape in acrylic paintings on canvases and plexiglass of organic form, but the color tends to slip in an invasive way, evading the boundaries of closed surfaces, even on common objects and everyday space, contaminating it. It is in the site-specific installations created in historic buildings that the artist best expresses her environmental attitude. With her works, Veronica Montanino recreates prismatic worlds with plastic geometries, elaborating chromatic rainbows that welcome the embryonic growth of visual perception.
